Garden
A living commonplace book for notes, diagrams, prototypes, and questions that are still becoming.
Ideas can be useful before they are finished.
These are working notes, not polished essays. Some grow into longer writing, tools, or software. Some stay fragments.
Authority as infrastructure
Authority becomes more useful when it is treated as a visible system of decision rights, resource access, responsibility, and review — not simply as a quality possessed by a person.
Silent computing
The most humane computer may be the one that does more of its work without constantly asking to become the center of attention.
Tools should extend agency
A useful tool increases what a person or group can perceive, understand, decide, and do without quietly taking those capacities away from them.
Coordination without management
Removing the manager does not remove sensing, prioritization, memory, resource allocation, accountability, or repair. Those capacities have to be rebuilt somewhere.
World sketching
Build the world before polishing the image. Each stage should answer one question and leave enough openness for the next stage to transform it.
Authority is not wisdom
The right to decide and the capacity to understand are different things. Good systems make both visible without pretending they are the same.
Systems, computation, worldbuilding, and ritual.
Systems
Coordination, governance, authority, organizational memory, and collective intelligence.
Computation
Models, agents, interfaces, software architecture, and computers that extend rather than replace agency.
Worldbuilding
Visual scores, environments, creatures, spatial imagination, and creation-first learning.
Ritual
Sound, myth, transmission, place, and symbolic technologies for attention.
